Daniela Morari: Moldova makes progress on EU accession, but more work needed

Moldova's ambassador to the European Union, Daniela Morari, said today that the country's assessment by the bloc is "quite optimistic."

"Three conditions are fully met, with advanced progress and three with progress, but additional efforts are needed. Certain things have already been achieved," Morari told Radio Moldova. "Moldova has submitted an updated report on what has already been achieved. There are still things for which efforts are being made and I hope that we will be able to achieve the full implementation within the deadlines we have."

The European Commission is due to present its assessment of Moldova's fulfillment of the nine recommendations it made in June 2022 when it granted the country candidate status for EU membership. The commission will decide whether to launch accession negotiations based on the results.
