Moldova conducts trial population and housing census in 11 localities
Moldova is conducting a trial population and housing census in 11 localities from August 28 to October 10, 2023. The census is designed to generate reliable statistics on the number of inhabitants and the territorial distribution of households. The exercise is funded by external partners.
The trial census is a mandatory stage in the preparation of the 2024 population and housing census, which is scheduled to be conducted across the entire country.
The last data on the number and structure of the population in Moldova was collected in 2014. According to international recommendations, such censuses are conducted every ten years.
