Ukrainian special forces land in western Crimea, Russian forces claim to have destroyed four ships
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed on Wednesday that it had destroyed four Ukrainian military ships carrying special forces in the Black Sea, according to Agerpres.ro.
At around 00:00 local time (21:00 GMT Tuesday), "an aircraft of the Naval Aviation of the Black Sea Fleet (...) destroyed four fast military ships with landing groups of Ukrainian special operations forces with a total of up to 50 people," the ministry said on Telegram without providing further details.
Ukrainian special forces units that came from the sea landed near the villages of Olenivka and Maiak in western Crimea, after which they left "without losses," fulfilling all their objectives and tasks, according to Ukrainian military intelligence.
On August 22, Russia claimed to have destroyed a US-made patrol boat carrying Ukrainian soldiers near Snake Island, after claiming the same day to have destroyed a reconnaissance ship in the Black Sea.
Russian forces also announced the destruction of a drone in the Kaluga region, which borders Moscow. The governor of the Orel region also announced on Telegram the downing of two drones in this region, specifying that he has no information about possible casualties or damage.
