Ukraine intensifies drone attacks on Russia

Ukrainian drones targeted the Russian capital and a region in the southwest of the country, near the border with Ukraine, Russian officials said Friday, CNN reported.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the capital's air defence system shot down a drone that was approaching the city overnight. He said no casualties or damage were reported.

Meanwhile, in the Kursk region, a Ukrainian drone targeted the city of Kursk in the early hours of Friday, Governor Roman Starovoit said. He said the drone hit a non-residential building, damaging its facade. Starovoit had earlier said two drones had targeted the city, but later said the second drone could not be confirmed to have been shot down.

Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia have intensified this week. On Wednesday morning, Russia experienced its largest drone assault on its territory since it launched its invasion last year, with six regions, including Moscow and Bryansk, being targeted.
