EU Parliament working closely with EU institutions on Moldova's EU accession bid

The European Parliament aims to start EU accession talks with Moldova by the end of the year, said MEP Siegfried Mureșan at the 12th meeting of the EU-Moldova Civil Society Platform.

Mureșan said that the Parliament is working closely with other EU institutions on this issue. "We will use the coming weeks to ensure that, if the nine reform recommendations sent by the European Commission last year are implemented by the authorities in Chisinau, the EU institutions will approve the start of accession talks with Moldova by the end of the year," Mureșan said.

According to the MEP, the process of European integration for Moldova will bring profound changes to the way the public administration performs and society functions.

"Therefore, cooperation between the authorities and civil society, both in Moldova and in other EU countries, such as Romania, will be essential to bring the country closer to EU standards as quickly as possible," the MEP said.
