Family doctor: England to offer world's first seven-minute cancer jab
Malignant diseases represent an immense challenge for society, including medical communities around the world. The search for a cure for cancer is becoming increasingly real thanks to the innovations that have been taking place in recent years. More on this from Pavel Cepraga.
Patients in England will be the first in the world to receive a new type of cancer treatment that can be administered in just seven minutes, according to The Guardian.
The treatment, known as Tecentriq, is an immunotherapy that helps the body's immune system fight cancer. It is currently given intravenously, which can take up to an hour.
The new subcutaneous injection is expected to be available to patients in England in the coming weeks.
"This is a major advance in cancer treatment," said Professor Peter Johnson, the national cancer director for NHS England. "It will make it much easier for patients to receive this life-saving treatment."
Tecentriq is used to treat a variety of cancers, including lung, breast, bladder, and liver cancer. It is estimated that around 3,600 patients in England will be eligible for the new treatment.
The new injection is expected to be more convenient for patients, as it can be administered at home or in a doctor's office. It is also expected to be less expensive than the intravenous treatment.
The approval of the new Tecentriq injection is a significant development in the fight against cancer. It offers patients a new, more convenient and affordable way to receive this life-saving treatment.
