BBC study: More than 20 thousand Russian soldiers would have died in the war in Ukraine
More than 20,000 Russian soldiers would have died in the war in Ukraine, and irrecoverable human losses would reach 100 thousand, according to a study carried out by the BBC, together with the Mediazona publication. More than half of the dead have not been identified.

Total irreparable Russian losses, that is, including wounded soldiers, may be at least 95,500. The cited source also writes that the main assault task on the front now falls to volunteer formations and private military companies. Thus, the proportion of volunteers is now estimated at 12% of the total number of confirmed victims, because before being sent to the front, many of them underwent only a few days of training. According to some sources, based on the contracts, more than 20 thousand people were sent to the battlefields of Ukraine. We remind that at the end of November the senior American general, Mark Milley, declared that about 100,000 Russian soldiers and 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or wounded since the beginning of the war. This figure was also mentioned by the head of the EU Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced at the end of September that 5937 Russian soldiers had died. The adviser to the Ukrainian president, Mihail Podoleak, said at the end of November that since the beginning of the war, Ukraine would have lost between 10,000 and 13,000 soldiers. The war in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022, and today marks 10 months since it was launched by Russia.
