Gazprom rejects Moldovagaz debt audit findings
Russian energy giant Gazprom has rejected the findings of an external audit into its alleged debt to Moldovagaz, the state-owned gas company of Moldova.
In a statement, Gazprom said the audit report was not approved by the Supervisory Board of Moldovagaz and that it did not recognize the findings.
The audit, which was conducted by two international firms, found that a large part of the debt claimed by Gazprom was not valid.
The report found that Moldovagaz could pay Gazprom just $8.6 million of the $709 million debt claimed by the Russian company.
Gazprom said it would continue to defend its rights in all possible ways. In a statement, Gazprom said the audit report was not approved by the Supervisory Board of Moldovagaz and that it did not recognize the findings.
