The US Congress approves a $45 billion aid package for Ukraine

The US Congress voted on the budget bill for 2023. Among other things, the package contains a major boost to military spending and nearly $45 billion in aid to Ukraine, NBC news reports.

"The government's budget will support, among other things, the extraordinary heroes of Ukraine who are fighting on the front lines of the battle for democracy. In this legislation, we are proud to provide them with another significant package of security, economic and humanitarian assistance," said Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi. For his part, President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the US Congress for this help, noting that "it is extremely important that the people of America stand with the Ukrainians in this fight." On December 22, the Senate of the United States of America approved the country's draft budget for 2023 in the amount of 1.7 trillion dollars.
