Moldova signs agreement to modernise economy and create jobs
Moldovan President Maia Sandu announced on Friday that an agreement has been signed to allow the country to participate in the EU Single Market Programme.
The signing ceremony took place in Brussels, Belgium, with EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi in attendance.
"The signing of this agreement is an important step towards the gradual integration of our country into the EU Single Market and a firm commitment to the modernization and alignment of the Republic of Moldova with European standards," Sandu said in a statement. "A competitive and strong economy means well-paid jobs at home and higher living standards for citizens."
The EU Single Market is one of the European Union's greatest achievements, ensuring that goods, services, people, and capital can move freely throughout the bloc. Moldova's participation in the program will help the country align its laws and regulations with those of the EU, making it easier for Moldovan businesses to export to European markets.
