Moldova hosts largest national hackathon
The Deeptech GigaHack hackathon is taking place for the first time in Chisinau, an event that has brought together professionals in the field of information technology, entrepreneurs, and researchers from Moldova and Romania.
For two days, participants, who have formed 40 teams, will compete to identify innovative solutions for the sectors of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and machine learning.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed that the hackathon provides an opportunity to generate innovations that will improve the quality of life and promote the economic development of the country. According to the official, today, young people have access to all the necessary tools and information and have a range of opportunities to produce.
At the same time, the head of the Executive noted that our country has already achieved results in several key areas, mentioning the two basic industries with remarkable performance – information technology and the wine industry, with national companies listed on international exchanges.
"Moldova is a destination for innovation and creativity. We are looking for innovative solutions for forest monitoring, efficient waste management, and we are sure that you can help us identify them. Know that everyone is proud of the innovations in our country, and anything you do in Moldova can be transformed into a global business," said Dorin Recean.
In turn, the Ambassador of the United States of America, Kent Logsdon, noted that his country will remain with Moldova to strengthen its position on the global map of innovation and technology by supporting programs in the field of information technologies.
