Moldova to train public sector employees in cybersecurity
The Moldovan government has approved a project that will see the Technical University of Moldova provide cybersecurity training to public sector employees and other interested parties from the public and private sectors.
The project was announced by Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba, who said that the growing digitization of public services has increased the risk of cyberattacks.
"A cyberattack could compromise people's trust in the digital tools we launch virtually every month," Alaiba said. "That's why we need to increase our ability to counter these incidents. To do this, we need to develop people in our institutions and make them capable of increasing the level of counteraction and defence against cyberattacks. Especially in the period we are in, this is an extremely important subject, as the number of cyberattacks is increasing."
The project is part of a broader effort by the Moldovan government to improve cybersecurity. In addition to the training program, the government is also planning to create a new cybersecurity authority and require public and private organisations to implement cybersecurity measures.
