House fire in Hîrjauca, Moldova, kills man
A man died in a house fire in Hîrjauca, Moldova, on the night of September 17, 2023. The fire broke out at around 10:17 p.m. local time.
Two teams of firefighters responded to the scene. They found that the fire had spread to multiple items inside the 63-square-metre home. The firefighters were able to contain the fire by 11:16 p.m. and extinguish it completely by 12:38 a.m.
"The fire destroyed 80% of the roof of the house, as well as property inside two rooms," said the State Fire and Rescue Service of Moldova (IGSU). "During the intervention, firefighters found the charred body of the owner, a 44-year-old man. The cause and circumstances of the fire are under investigation."
In the last 24 hours, firefighters in Moldova responded to 51 incidents.
