Over 40 cruise missiles fired at Ukraine in overnight attack
Russian forces launched a massive nighttime attack on Ukraine on September 18, firing over 40 cruise missiles at targets across the country.
"The enemy carried out a massive missile strike on Ukraine on the night of September 18. In total, 41 air-to-ground strikes were recorded. Of those, 24 were recorded in the direction of the Nikolaev and Odessa regions," Ukrainian Air Force Command reported.
The Russian military launched the cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Volgograd region. Eight aircraft were involved, and 17 cruise missile launches were recorded, according to Ukrainian authorities.
The Russians targeted, in particular, southern Ukraine. The Danube region was again attacked: the recreational infrastructure of the Vilkovo community was recorded. A fire broke out at the impact site, which was quickly extinguished. No casualties have been reported yet.
In addition, as a result of combat operations, the remains of a downed UAV caused a fire in an unused two-story building in the Snigirevsk community in the Nikolaev region. The fire was also quickly extinguished, and no one was injured.
