The Republic of Moldova has strengthened its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals
The Republic of Moldova has strengthened its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), rising in the UN Ranking from 48th place in 2021 to 25th place in 2023, said the President Maia Sandu on the first day of participation in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The European Policy Analysis Center (CEPA) awarded President Sandu the "Freedom Fighter" 2023 Award, thus recognizing the commitment of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to democracy and the values of the free world, reads a press release of the presidential institution.
In her speech, Maia Sandu emphasized the determination of the Republic of Moldova to face the challenges, mentioning the consequences of the war in Ukraine and the hybrid threats to the Republic of Moldova.
On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, President Sandu had bilateral talks with European leaders such as the President of the Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset, the President of Slovakia, Zuzana Čaputová, and the Prime Minister of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson.
The discussions focused on Moldova's accession to the European Union, the development of reforms and the strengthening of bilateral relations.
The theme of the current session of the General Assembly is " Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all".
