Vladimir Putin is confident that the Russian military will destroy the Patriot air defense system that the United States has announced it will supply to Ukraine. In an interview on Russian public television, an excerpt of which was broadcast, the Kremlin leader resumed attacks on the West and claimed that Moscow's goal in Ukraine was "to unite the Russian people."
After warnings about the Patriot system coming to Ukraine, the Kremlin already sees it destroyed by the Russian military, even though it is suffering heavy losses in the war. He claimed that the West was trying to "divide" historical Russia, justifying the invasion of Ukraine by saying that it wanted the "unification of the Russian people".
