The volume and number of Moldovan products exported to India is increasing
The Republic of Moldova exported five times more apples, pears and quinces to India in 2022 than in 2018, said trade specialist Stela Corobcean. According to her, our export capacities could increase, as New Delhi authorities annually import 14 percent of food products, and Moldovan farmers offer a better price than foreign farmers.
Stela Corobcean said that domestic agricultural producers should export apricots, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums and other fresh fruits to India.
"As a potential exporter, it is fruits that have seen a big increase. For example apples, pears, quinces had a 500% increase from 2018 to 2022. Sunflower seeds had a 21% increase. The new categories that have not been exported so far are beef, animal feed, sunflower residues", said Stela Corobcean.
We remind that last year the total volume of trade between the Republic of Moldova and India was 253 million dollars, 5.4 times higher than in 2021. Also, the share of foreign trade with India in the total volume of trade of the Republic of Moldova was two percent.
