EU to provide Moldova with €105 million grant to mitigate impact of rising energy prices
The European Commission will additionally provide Moldova with a grant of €105 million. In this regard, the Government approved the decision on initiating negotiations and approving the signing of an amendment to the Financing Agreement on the State-building and Resilience Contract for the Republic of Moldova, signed in Brussels in 2021.
According to an executive statement, this increases the support programme to €240 million, which will be disbursed in two additional tranches until the end of 2023.
The source also notes that this financial support will contribute to mitigating the socio-economic impact of rising energy prices, increase the state's capacity to provide services to vulnerable groups and support efforts to ensure energy security in Moldova.
