Prime Minister proposes the appointment of Petru Rotaru as Minister of Finance

Prime Minister Dorin Recean proposed to President Maia Sandu the appointment of Petru Rotaru as Minister of Finance. According to the head of the Executive, Petru Rotaru knows the public finance system well and has proved a good result in his activity as head of the State Fiscal Service.

"I want to thank Veronica Sirețeanu for the efforts made in ensuring and managing the appropriate financing of government policies. Together we will continue to work to ensure financial stability and to promote the economic development of the country", said Dorin Recean.

If the president accepts the candidacy, then Petru Rotaru will exercise the position of Minister of Finance, in connection with the departure of Veronica Sirețeanu on maternity leave.

Petru Rotaru is currently the head of the State Fiscal Service, having been appointed to this position on March 30. He previously worked in the financial and fiscal field since 2006, both in the private and public sectors, including, in 2010-2012, he led the Ialoveni State Fiscal Inspectorate.

Petru Rotaru graduated from the Faculty of Finance at ASEM. Moreover, he holds a master's degree in Financial Tax Law at the same institution.
