Andrei Spînu: The Chisinau International Airport monitoring fee will be excluded from next year
The monitoring fee of the Chisinau International Airport will be excluded from next year, says the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu on RliveTV. According to the official, the authorities are looking for investments of at least 200 million euros for the modernization of the airport, but they do not intend to re-concession this objective.
Recently, the head of the Iasi Airport specified that 30% of the passengers who choose to fly from the Iasi International Airport are citizens of the Republic of Moldova. The Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu, says that this migration is not caused by the bad management of Chisinau Airport. Moreover, the official says that the airport modernization fee, imposed on passengers by the former concessionaire, will be excluded from next year. Also, the official does not see the need to attract a foreign investor to manage the Airport. According to Minister Andrei Spînu, the authorities only intend to attract from outside the funds necessary for the modernization of the airport and the construction of a new terminal. Chisinau International Airport returned to state management from April 2023, after in 2013 it was given a concession for a period of 49 years to the Avia Invest company.
