Veronica Mihailov-Moraru is on a working visit to Brussels: Justice reform is on the agenda for discussions
The Minister of Justice, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, is on a two-day working visit to Brussels, where she will inform about justice reform and the measures pertaining to the justice sector from the nine conditions of the European Commission's Opinion, in the context of the Commission's expansion report from the fall of this year. The official from Chisinau has planned several meetings and discussions with officials of the European institutions.
During yesterday, the Minister of Justice, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, met with the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, and the director-general of the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers of the European Commission, Ana Gallego Torres.
The discussions focused on the evolution of the implementation of the pre-vetting and vetting processes, the formation of the Superior Council of the Magistracy and the Superior Council of Prosecutors, the efforts in the implementation of anti-corruption measures and the strengthening of the capacities of the institutions responsible for fighting corruption, the level of achievement of the actions of the de-oligarization plan, as well as the challenges encountered.
Veronica Mihailov-Moraru also had a meeting with Ramona Strugariu, vice-president of the Moldova-EU Parliamentary Association Committee, and Dragoș Tudorache, rapporteur for the Republic of Moldova in the European Parliament. The European deputies reaffirmed their support for the reforms that are being promoted and urged the Government of the Republic of Moldova to ensure a firm pace to these processes.
