The Council of the European Union approved the elimination of roaming fees for the Republic of Moldova
USR MEP Vlad Gheorghe announced, on Thursday, in a video broadcast on Facebook, that the elimination of roaming fees for the Republic of Moldova was approved in the Council of the European Union (Justice and Internal Affairs), reports g4media.ro.
Vlad Gheorghe said that the decision will most likely apply from January 1, 2024, and this was supported by all Romanian MEPs. The MEP announced that at the beginning of October, in Chisinau, an agreement will be signed on the lack of roaming charges, after which the legislation will have to be adapted in the Republic of Moldova, so that, from January 1, there will be no more roaming charges.
Thus, from January 1, 2024, Moldovan visitors to the EU will be able to use their mobile phones under the same price conditions as if they were in Moldova, while EU travelers will benefit from the same rights when visiting Moldova.
Bringing the Republic of Moldova into the EU "roam like at home" area is one of the key actions of the EU-Moldova Priority Action Plan, agreed in June 2023.
