Victor Parlicov: The Republic of Moldova manages to increase its resilience in the energy field thanks to its Euro-Atlantic partners

The Republic of Moldova, thanks to its Euro-Atlantic partners, manages to increase its resilience in the energy field, said the Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov, in a video message at the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Forum, held today in Bucharest.

At the same time, he stated that the Republic of Moldova is no longer completely dependent on Russian gas, as it was until 2021. "From December 2022, we will no longer procure natural gas from Gazprom for the territory controlled by the constitutional authorities, because in the Republic of Moldova we also have a part of the territory that we do not control, a separatist region.

Not only did we manage to procure gas from other sources, we procured all gas fully from the European market, not only did we manage to do so at a cheaper price than the formula we signed in the contract with Gazprom", declared Victor Parlicov.

Regional security was also discussed at the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Forum in Bucharest. In this context, the president of the Romanian Senate, Nicolae Ciucă, mentioned that the political decision to open as soon as possible the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to the European Union is vital both for these two states and for those in the European community.

At the same time, the Romanian official said that Romania will continue to provide active support to the Republic of Moldova, including for the continuation of its "irreversible" European course.
