Borrell praised Moldova's commitment to reforms and expressed confidence in the country's ability to cope with the effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

He also highlighted the importance of ongoing cooperation in the areas of security and defence, noting the recent establishment of the EU Partnership Mission in Moldova (MPUE). The mission is working closely with its Moldovan partners to strengthen the country's security sector.

"The EU will continue to be solidary with Moldova and support it on its path of reforms," Borrell said.

During his visit to Chisinau, Borrell and Moldovan Interior Minister Adrian Efros signed an agreement on the status of the MPUE.
