An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 occurred in the Vrancea seismic zone

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 occurred this morning, at 3:50 local time, in the Vrancea seismic zone, Buzău county, according to information published by the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 128 kilometers: 54 km north of Ploiești, 55 km northwest of Buzău, 56 km southeast of Brașov, 61 km southeast of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 80 km south -west of Focșani and 81 km northeast of Târgoviște.

Moreover, this morning two other earthquakes were recorded in the counties of Vrancea and Buzau, but of small magnitude, respectively of 2.4 and 2.2. Since the beginning of October, six earthquakes have occurred in Romania, with magnitudes between 2.1 and 3.5 on the Richter scale.

The strongest tectonic movement this year, with a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale, took place on February 14, in Gorj County, at a depth of 6.3 kilometers.
