Nicu Popescu, after the approval of the European Parliament resolution: "A strong sign of support for the Republic of Moldova"

Today's decision of the European Parliament approving the resolution regarding the start of the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union, a strong sign of support for the Republic of Moldova and for the European path, declared the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu.

Also, the head of Moldovan diplomacy says, the resolution is a "recognition of our substantial progress in the implementation of the nine recommendations of the European Commission, since obtaining the status of a candidate country"*.

"With the achievement of these important advances, we count on the support of the member states of the European Union in order to obtain a favorable decision during the European Council meeting in December, which will allow the accession negotiations to begin", continued Nicu Popescu.

The European Parliament voted today the resolution requesting the start of the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union by the end of the year.
