The resolution of the European Parliament that gave positive approval to the start of negotiations for accession to the European Union is a positive signal both for the Republic of Moldova and for the European institutions, said in an interview for Deschide.md, the EU ambassador in Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks.

"These 9 conditionalities are not something new, these are the things that the EU talks about quite a lot, which can be problematic for the Republic of Moldova for many years, which has changed with the Government's desire to work, to get involved in this new field. For me, it's not so much about the EU, but about creating a more democratic, more equal country," said the EU ambassador.

We remind you that yesterday, with a large majority, the European Parliament voted a Resolution recommending the European institutions to start negotiations with the Republic of Moldova by the end of this year.

The European Commission will assess the fulfillment of the nine recommendations at the end of October, and the final decision will be taken in December by the European Council.
