Ukraine dismissed the special representative for the Transnistrian settlement

Volodymyr Zelenskii dismissed the special representative of Ukraine for the Transnistrian settlement, Iurii Klimenko. The decree was signed on December 26.

On the same day, Klimenko was appointed by presidential decree as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Argentina. Iuri Klimenko held the position of Kyiv's special representative for the Transnistrian settlement since February 8. Previously, he was a resident representative of Ukraine at the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, worked in the presidential administration and was the ambassador of Ukraine to Spain, Greece, the USA and the Benelux countries. Ukraine is a mediator in the Transnistrian settlement in the "5+2" format, in which Chisinau and Tiraspol participate as parties to the conflict, Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE are mediators, and the USA and the European Union are observers. Currently, the "5+2" format is not functional, because two mediators - the Russian Federation and Ukraine - are involved in the war.
