Moldova is prepared for the winter, says Prime Minister Dorin Recean
Moldova is more prepared than ever for the winter, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said in an interview on Vocea Basarabiei radio. However, the official stressed that the government is looking for resources to support citizens and businesses.
"Winter is coming soon. We have already reduced the electricity tariff. We are better prepared than ever for the winter. We are looking for resources to support citizens and businesses. Moldovagaz or its head does not determine the gas tariff or state aid. We will target the aid very well for the cold period of the year," Recean said.
In June 2023, the tariff for natural gas was reduced by about 11 lei. As a result, household consumers currently pay 18.07 lei per cubic metre of gas, including VAT. Previously, Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said that the natural gas tariff could be further reduced, but not to 13 lei as some energy experts say.
At the same time, Moldovagaz representatives say that in order to reach a tariff of 13 lei per cubic metre, natural gas must be purchased at $350 per 1,000 cubic metres.
