Moldova illuminates Parliament building in support of Israel
The Parliament of Moldova illuminated its building in the colours of the Israeli flag on October 11, 2023, in a show of solidarity with the people of Israel.
“Moldova stands in solidarity with Israel and the Israeli people, and we publicly condemn the terrorist acts of Hamas,” said Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu in a statement.
After the declaration of a state of emergency in Israel, the Moldovan Embassy in Israel is operating on high alert, providing only emergency consular services, such as issuing travel documents.
The government also activated an inter-institutional crisis cell at its meeting on October 11. The cell is coordinated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As of October 11, more than 3,000 people have been killed in the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas.
