Residents of the four Ukrainian regions illegally annexed by Russia can receive Russian IDs

Residents of the four Ukrainian regions illegally annexed by Russia - Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia - can receive Russian IDs if they renounce Ukrainian citizenship.

A decree to this effect was signed by the leader of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin. According to the document, minors under the age of 14 can automatically become Russian citizens. The passport will not be granted under any circumstances if a resident of one of the four annexed Ukrainian regions refuses to swear allegiance to the Russian state.
