Romania to provide temporary shelter for Ukrainian evacuees from Israel

Romania has announced that it will provide temporary shelter for 220 Ukrainian evacuees from Israel. The evacuees, who arrived in Bucharest on Saturday, are expected to stay in the country for a few days while they arrange their next steps, as reported by Agerpres.ro.

"In the context of the escalating conflict in the Middle East between Israel and the Palestinians, Romania is acting in a spirit of international solidarity," said a statement from the Romanian Department for Emergency Situations. "As a result, at the request of the Ukrainian Embassy in Romania, the Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Situations Inspectorate, with the support of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, the General Inspectorate for Immigration, and the Romanian representative office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), is providing assistance to the Ukrainian evacuees from Israel."

The evacuees will receive medical attention upon arrival in Bucharest. Some of them will continue their journey, while others will be transported to temporary housing.

A second transport of Ukrainian evacuees is scheduled to arrive at Cluj-Napoca International Airport on Monday.
