Moldova celebrates Down syndrome awareness month

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month around the world. The goal of highlighting the reality of Down syndrome is to unite society and inform it about this unique human genetic structure.

This month, people are wearing mismatched socks to raise awareness that "We are different, but equal."

Ludmila Adamciuc, the mother of a girl with Down syndrome, created the Alphabet of Equality, which deciphers the phenomenon of empathy so that the integration of all children into the community, in schools and kindergartens, is the norm, not a struggle.

Digital technologies are part of our everyday lives. Therefore, this book can also be exported with the help of augmented reality. The 30 stories in the book cultivate tolerance and diversity in the hearts of children, and they offer adults an important tool for explaining these delicate concepts.

These details were revealed to journalist Larisa Verdeș by the author of the Alphabet of Equality, Ludmila Adamciuc, who is also the president of the AO "My Friend", in an interview that can be heard on Tuesday, October 17, on the "Zi de Zi" show. In the interview, you will also learn that a new exhibition with pages from the book that can be exported with the help of augmented reality will take place on October 21, at the B.P. Hasdeu Municipal Library. The Alphabet of Equality is intended for both children and adults, because it is never too late to learn.
