Maia Sandu: We want even more Czech investments to contribute to our energy security
Present at the Moldovan-Czech business forum, held in Prague, President Maia Sandu expressed the desire of the Republic of Moldova to deepen cooperation in the energy sector and called on Czech investors to come to our country.
"We want even more Czech investments. We will soon announce tenders for the development of renewable energy, including solar, wind and biomass. We invite Czech investors to consider these opportunities," said Maia Sandu.
The head of state mentioned that about 50 enterprises with Czech capital are already active in the Republic of Moldova and contribute to the economic development of both countries. Also, Maia Sandu welcomed the organization, in parallel with her official visit to the Czech Republic, of the fifth meeting of the Moldovan-Czech intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, as well as the businessmen's forum in Prague.
Maia Sandu mentioned that, coming to Moldova, Czech investors will also help Ukraine, because the roads, railways, port and airport of the Republic of Moldova play an important role in the economic resilience of Ukraine.
“Our transport links are the Roads of Solidarity, which allow Ukrainian grain exports to go to foreign markets and to bring much-needed imports into Ukraine. We will invest in infrastructure to make them better, faster, safer, more efficient. Moldova is proud to support Ukraine. So, come to Moldova. We are no longer a small market. We share the same language with Romania and have become a gateway to Ukraine. We are a crossroads that serves a market of 60 million people", the head of state said.
For his part, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Iosef Sikela, expressed his satisfaction that, after 5 years, the joint Moldovan-Czech intergovernmental commission met again.
"I am confident that we have a common future, a common future in the EU. I will be happy if the activity of the Czech companies operating in the Republic of Moldova will be followed by other companies from the Czech Republic", said Sikela.
