Nicu Popescu discussed with his Israeli counterpart about the fate of the Moldovans in the Gaza Strip

Chisinau Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu spoke on the phone with his Israeli counterpart, Eli Cohen, about the evacuation of 50 Moldovan citizens from the Gaza Strip.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the authorities are working with external partners, including from Egypt, Israel, Romania and other states to bring back the Moldovans stuck in the Gaza Strip. Also, Nicu Popescu expressed our country's solidarity with Israel in the face of the terrorist attacks committed by Hamas.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that Israel has the right to defend itself against these brutal attacks and emphasized that the Republic of Moldova designated Hamas as a terrorist organization since 2019.

Also, Nicu Popescu reiterated that the Republic of Moldova makes a clear and firm call for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages taken by Hamas.
