The Republic of Moldova and France conclude a new defense cooperation agreement
The Republic of Moldova will conclude a new defense cooperation agreement with France for an indefinite period. The members of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission approved the opinion for the initiation of negotiations in this regard. The initiative to conclude a new agreement in the field of defense belongs to France and was expressed after the second Summit of the European Political Community 2023 was held in Chisinau.
According to a press release from the Parliament, in 1998 the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova signed an agreement in the same field with the Ministry of Defense of France. However, at present it does not cover the whole spectrum of aspects of cooperation and, in the context, it is proposed to initiate a new agreement.
"The new agreement aims to establish and to develop an advantageous cooperative for both France and the Republic of Moldova. The document will include collaboration in areas such as defense policy and planning, the reform of the armed forces, exchanges of experience, etc., reports the cited source.
Also, based on the new agreement, the authorities will draw up, every year, a bilateral cooperation plan, which will include details on the actions and the number of people involved in their implementation.
