The second Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea International Platform started in Prague

The second Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea International Platform started today in Prague. It is organized by Ukraine and the Czech Republic. Approximately 70 presidents and vice-presidents of legislatures of countries and international institutions are participating in the meeting. The forum addresses the situation in Ukraine and will adopt a statement. The Republic of Moldova is represented at this summit by the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu.

The President of the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said in the opening speech of the summit that the event demonstrates the support shown by the international community towards Ukraine following the aggression of the Russian Federation.

"We gathered at the second Parliamentary Summit "Crimea International Platform to talk and to come up with solutions for one of the most painful problems of the moment. We all understand how important it is to maintain world order. We all stand in solidarity with the victims who suffered as a result of the aggression. Ukraine has lost thousands of citizens and, unfortunately, continues to lose them," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

The Republic of Moldova is represented at the meeting by the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu. According to a press release from the Chisinau Legislative, the official will deliver a speech in the plenary session and will participate in the discussions of some thematic workshops.

We remind that the "Crimea International Platform" Summit will address multiple aspects of the current security situation in Ukraine and the possibilities of national parliaments and international parliamentary institutions to contribute to the Platform's priority areas of activity. A joint declaration will be adopted at the end of the summit.

We remind you that the first Parliamentary Summit "Crimea International Platform" took place last year in October in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.
