**UPDATE 9:40 Dorin Recean: **Moldova has committed to increasing its defense capacity. We greatly appreciate the support of NATO and NATO member states. We are strengthening our defense capacity, but Russia's aggression against Ukraine has triggered additional efforts for us and our friends to develop resilience in society, resilience of institutions, but also defense capabilities. We are willing to participate in international missions and exercises. They will strengthen our interoperability capabilities. I would like to thank NATO and its member countries once again."
UPDATE 9:35 Jens Stoltenberg: Earlier this year, NATO approved a substantial support package for strengthening cyber security and strategic communication to enhance your defense capability. At the NATO Summit in Vilnius we agreed to strengthen our political and practical cooperation. All of this will help you get on the path to EU membership. We also thank the Republic of Moldova for its contribution to the KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, as stability in the Western Balkans is important to all of us. Prime Minister Dorin Recean will have a meeting this morning with the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Jens Stoltenberg, announces the NATO Liaison Office in the Republic of Moldova.
The Prime Minister will be received at the NATO Headquarters. Also, the head of the Executive from Chisinau will have a dialogue with the Allies in the framework of the North Atlantic Council chaired by the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geoană, reads a press release of the NATO Liaison Office in the Republic of Moldova.
At 09:30 (EET), the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova will make brief press statements.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean is visiting Brussels before the presentation by the European Commission of the report on the fulfillment by the Republic of Moldova of the 9 conditionalities assumed upon obtaining in June 2022 the status of a candidate country for accession.
During yesterday, Dorin Recean had several meetings with European officials, the main discussions being focused on cooperation in the energy field and justice reform.
