Zelenskiy to urge EU to tighten Russia sanctions

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy will ask European Union leaders meeting in Brussels Thursday to expand sanctions against Russia to impede the Kremlin’s ability to resupply, as allies brace for a long war and military support for Ukraine becomes more pressing, Bloomberg reports.

The EU risks falling behind on plans to provide Ukraine with a million artillery shells by March, with only about 30% of the target delivered and given the volume of contracts signed to date, according to people and documents seen by Bloomberg News.

Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that Russia can circumvent international sanctions, and many components of the attack drones used by the Russian military come from different countries, various companies, including Western ones. According to him, sanctions against the Russian Federation are a way of defense for Ukraine.
