The number of candidates registered in the general local elections on a rise against the 2019 election
The number of candidates who registered for this autumn's election has increased compared to the 2019 elections, the secretary of the Central Electoral Commission, Alexandr Berlinschi, told Radio Moldova. He said that 35 political parties and one electoral block were registered at the polls.
"In 2019 we had around 55 thousand candidates, now we have around 60 thousand candidates. There are just over 1,200 independent candidates across all levels of elective office. Out of the total number of candidates, we have around 4,000 candidates for the position of mayor, of which about 70% are men and 30% are women", said Alexandr Berlinschi.
We remind you that today was the last day when political parties could request to change the place of order, to exclude the candidate from the electoral list or to withdraw the entire list of candidates for the general local elections of November 5, 2023.
