A regional hospital will be built in Balti

A modern regional hospital will be built in Balti. In this regard, the Government approved the ratification of the Loan Agreement, worth 86 million euros, with the Council of Europe Development Bank.

According to a press release from the Executive, the regional level medical institution will have an area of about 38 thousand m². "Residents of the northern region of the country will have access to qualitative and safe tertiary medical services, with state-of-the-art equipment," reads the quoted source.

For its construction, a plot of land with an area of five hectares located in the village of Corlăteni, Rîscani district, will be allocated. The initiative to build two regional hospitals, one in Balti and another in Cahul, was launched last year.

The authorities propose to deconcentrate the medical services in Chisinau through their construction. However, the project was previously criticized by the parliamentary opposition, which supports the modernization of already existing medical institutions.

The total value of the Balti Regional Hospital construction project is 108 million euros.
