Delegation of Chisinau in the Joint Control Commission warns Tiraspol to exclude any type of challenges on November 5
In the Security Zone, in the locations under the control of the Chisinau authorities, conditions will be ensured for residents to participate in the voting procedure in accordance with the rights established by national legislation and international norms. The representatives of the Transnistrian region were informed about it at the weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission (UCC) in Bender, which was attended by the delegation of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the Reintegration Bureau, the forces of the territorial subdivisions of the General Police Inspectorate deployed in the Security Zone will be trained in measures to maintain public order.
"The Delegation of Chisinau warned the Transnistrian side to exclude any provocations with the potential to tense the situation. The participants of the Joint Control Commission, including representatives of the OSCE Mission and of Ukraine, were asked to contribute to ensuring order and free movement of citizens on election day," reads a press release from the Reintegration Office. We remind you that on November 5 in the Republic of Moldova general local elections will be held in all administrative-territorial units of the first level - cities (municipalities), villages (communes), and of the second level - districts, the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti, with the exception of localities in left of the Nistru and the municipality of Bender.
In this election, representatives of the local public administration will be elected for a four-year term, namely 898 mayors and 11,058 local councilors (district, municipal, town, commune and village).
In order to be validated, at least 1/4 of the number of people registered in the electoral lists in each constituency must participate in the elections.
