Over one million citizens participated in the general local elections, 55% were women
In the general local elections of November 5, almost one million 150 thousand voters went to the polls out of the almost two million 700 thousand registered on the electoral lists. In the capital, the turnout was almost 267 thousand, that is, almost 41 percent of citizens with the right to vote.
According to the data presented by the Central Electoral Commission, the most active were women. In the country, more than 55 percent of women voted, and in Chisinau almost 57 percent. Men were more passive. Their share was almost 45 percent in the country and over 43 percent in the capital.
If we talk about the age category, in the Republic of Moldova, the most active people were between 56 and 75. Their share of the total number of voters constituted over 41 percent.
The most passive voters were young people aged between 18 and 25 and the elderly over 76 years old.
The CEC data also show that, in the capital, the most active were the voters aged between 36 and 45, constituting 21 percent. Almost 19 percent of those present to vote were citizens aged between 56-65 and 66-75.
People aged 46 to 55 had a lower presence, over 16 percent. At the opposite pole are, as in the country, young people between 18 to 25 and the elderly over 76 years old.
