LIVE The Central Electoral Commission presents the preliminary results regarding the general local elections
The members of the Central Electoral Commission organize a press conference in which they will present the preliminary results regarding the conduct of the general local elections.
On November 5, 2023, general local elections were held in the Republic of Moldova in all administrative-territorial units of the first level - cities (municipalities), villages (communes), and of the second level - districts, the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti, with the exception of the localities on the left bank of the Nistru and the municipality of Bender. In this election, the representatives of the local public administration were elected for a four-year term, respectively 898 mayors and 11,058 local councilors (district, municipal, town, commune and village), writes the portal alegeri.md.
The elections in each electoral district are validated if at least 1/4 of the number of voters registered in the electoral lists participated in the voting.
According to the preliminary information presented by the Central Electoral Commission, the turnout rate at the national level was 41.41%, while the turnout in the municipality of Chisinau registered 40.96% of the total number of voters. Therefore, the local electoral ballot can be considered valid, except in localities where the 25% voting participation rate was not exceeded.
