Reuters: The EU executive will propose on Wednesday the start of accession negotiations for the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine

The European Union's executive will recommend on Wednesday that the EU bloc open accession negotiations with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova once they meet the outstanding conditions, two EU officials said on Monday, quoted by Reuters.

Both officials, who have seen and are familiar with the European Commission's draft report before its publication, noted that in fact, formal negotiations with Kiev and Chisinau could begin next year.

They added that the Commission's report on enlargement, which will also contain the progress of other EU aspirants, must be completed before official publication.

We remind you that on October 5, the European Parliament adopted with a large majority of votes a Resolution recommending the start of the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova to the EU by the end of 2023. It was requested, among other things, the permanent liberalization of trade with the European Union and the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the single European market, before the completion of accession negotiations.

Also, MEP Dacian Cioloș declared for Radio Moldova that our state delivered good results regarding the fulfillment of the recommendations received upon obtaining the status of a candidate country for accession to the EU bloc.

At the same time, the authorities in Chisinau state that the European agenda is a basic one for the Republic of Moldova and efforts are being made to move forward and to record progress in each chapter, so that by the end of the year the accession negotiations to the European Union will be opened .
