Mircea Geoană: NATO and the European Union are common partners of the Republic of Moldova
Ukraine will definitely join the European Union and the North Atlantic Organization, and the Republic of Moldova will definitely become a member of the community block by 2030, said the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geoană, at a Forum organized in Bucharest. The official welcomed the opinion of the European Commission for the start of accession negotiations with the two countries. Mircea Geoană said that, in this case, Romania will no longer be a frontier of the West, but part of the center of the Euro-Atlantic community.
"It is an objective that we all support, and NATO and the European Union are common partners of the Republic of Moldova and we will help them with all our power to achieve this objective. I think that we, as Romanians, have an additional obligation and a hopeless chance to see all our neighbors as part of the same family", said Geoană.
We remind that, between November 9-10, Bucharest will host the 12th edition of the Bucharest Forum, an annual conference of strategic importance in the Black Sea region, which brings together global and regional political leaders. This year's edition focuses on the transformations and challenges that the war in Ukraine has generated at the international level.
