Finland buys a missile defense system from Israel
Israel has signed an agreement providing for the delivery of a missile defense system to Finland. The contract amounts to 317 million euros, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday, reports DPA and Agerpres.
The cited source writes that the system is used to intercept medium and long-range missiles.
This system is jointly developed by the Israeli Ministry of Defense, the US Department of Defense and the manufacturer Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
Finland and Sweden decided to apply for NATO membership after the launch of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Finland was admitted to NATO on April 4 this year and is the 31st member of the North Atlantic Alliance.
