Janis Mazeiks: The Republic of Moldova and the European Union also collaborate on the aspect of improving cyber security
The Republic of Moldova proved to be a reliable partner and a continuous commitment to improve its cyber resilience, and the support of the European Union has been shaped in this direction as well, said the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, at a regional forum of cyber security.
According to the head of the European Delegation in Chisinau, cyber security remains a priority in the cooperation between the EU bloc and our country.
"We mutually recognize the importance of integrating cyber security. It's very important because we see the threats, the malicious behavior, both from the current state and non-state actors, they have intensified over the years. It is a scale of activities attacking critical supply chain infrastructure, intellectual property, Cyber attacks against citizens, institutions, organizations. The support from the EU also manifests itself in the cyber field", says Janis Mazeiks.
The Regional Cyber Security Symposium 2023 is held today in Chisinau, supported by the European Union in partnership with other states. Thus, the forum has the mission of strengthening the regional cyber security framework.
We remind you that, last year, the Republic of Moldova faced the most cyber attacks in its history. In August alone, more than 80 government websites were targeted by such attacks. Also, several information systems, Telegram pages of some officials and public portals were hacked.
