General local elections // PAS got most mandates of mayor
The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) obtained the most mandates of mayor following the two rounds of the general local elections on November 5 and 19, followed by the Socialist Party (PSRM), that has the most mandates of mayor in the administrative centers .
PAS got 291 mandates of mayor, or about 32.5 percent, following the two rounds of voting, according to an analysis by the portal alegeri.md. PSRM follows with 144 seats or 16%, while the European Social Democratic Party will hold 103 seats. 116 mayors, or every eighth one, ran as an independent candidate.
The Socialist Party is the first in terms of the number of mayors of administrative centers - nine out of 34.
Next comes the Party Partidul Nostru with six mayors of municipalities and district centers and PAS, with 5. Another five are independent.
According to preliminary data, 895 out of 898 mayors were elected on November 5 and 19, 2023.
In Aluatu village, Taraclia district, the second round of repeated elections will be organized, and in Chioselia Rusă and Cotovskoe villages of UTA Găgăuzia in March 2024, partial elections will take place due to the low turnout at the general local elections.
We remind you that, following the local elections, PAS obtained 357 mandates, or almost 33 percent of the number of district councilors, followed by PSRM with 23.5% and PSDSE - with eight percent. PAS councilors hold the majority in four districts, and the socialists - in three, with alliances to be created in the others.
