This morning, the law enforcement officers raided the homes of several people, including MAI employees, in Comrat and Taraclia districts, informs the Internal Protection and Anti-corruption Service (SPIA) of the MAI. They are suspected of creating an organized criminal group specializing in the illegal migration of Ukrainian men from their country of origin to EU countries.

Prosecution actions are carried out in a criminal file on the organization of illegal migration.

"During the period of August 2023 until now, there were documented the illegal actions of the members of the organized criminal group, which included citizens of the Republic of Moldova, Ukrainian citizens, as well as employees of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police (IGPF), the General Inspectorate of Migration (IGM) and the General Police Inspectorate (IGP)", reads a statement of SPIA.

The persons mentioned above organized the crossing of the state border of the Republic of Moldova by the Ukrainian citizens, through the green zone, after which they facilitated the completion and legalization of residence documents on the territory of our country, so that later the Ukrainian citizens could travel further to the EU countries. We remind that men in Ukraine cannot leave the country in the context of the war that started in February 25, 2022.

"As a result of the procedural actions - the search, objects and goods relevant to the criminal case were seized, which will be subject to investigation", mentions SPIA.

If they are found guilty, they risk fines up to 57 thousand lei or imprisonment from 5 to 7 years, with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or exercise a certain activity for a period of 3 to 5 years .
